What are the different types of Mattresses?

Ciao! The mattress world can be complicated because there are so many different options to choose from. Along with these options, all the mattresses have different unique add-on features that are specific to each manufacturer.

I know it can be stressful when shopping for the right type of mattress and getting the perfect sleep is very important!  So, I am here to help walk you through the different types of mattresses.

Allora, let’s begin

I will be listing five different types of mattresses:

  • Memory Foam
  • Innerspring
  • Hybrid
  • Gel-Infused
  • Latex

MEMORY FOAM

Memory foam has many qualities that make it one of the most comfortable mattress types for consumers!

A couple of unique qualities are:

  1. Relieves body pain and discomfort by taking away the pressure points at the shoulders, hips, elbows and knees
  2. Cradles your spine perfectly and great for side sleepers
  3. It provides great temperature control
  4. It is allergy friendly

If you are noticing frequent body aches and joint pain, switching to memory foam might be your answer. Memory foam can easily fit and match perfectly with your body. Here at GiNO, our memory foam is weight and pressure-sensitive, which can provide great elastic support and recovery with a quick shape response. A good posture sleep is important, and we want you to wake up feeling refreshed and ready to start your spectacular day!

Temperature control for many sleepers is a crucial quality to have. Being overly hot or cold could irritate your sleep, and there goes another sleepless night! However, with memory foam, it is made out of temperature-sensitive material which allows the mattress to balance out the temperature for you. Many manufacturers provide cooling features as well. Here at GiNO, we use an open-cell memory foam that creates a breathable and cooler memory foam, so you can sleep cool all night long.

Allergy-friendly! What a relief right! As mentioned in previous blogs when a mattress is overused and not replaced, dust mites and other allergens can start living in it. But not to worry, because memory foam is made to prevent allergens because of the mattress’s dense form.

INNERSPRING

Innerspring mattresses are one of the oldest sleep technologies, however, they have evolved throughout time and are still used today!

Innersprings give off a bouncy and light feel, so if you are looking for something firmer this might not be your match. However, many sleepers love bouncy beds because they are easier to move around or get on and off the bed.

This type of mattress might also be a good choice if you are a stomach sleeper, due to the uniform, and light sleeping surface.

However, if we are talking long-term, the memory foam tends to stay more durable longer than the innerspring!

HYBRID

If you read the above descriptions and felt that they could both have the potential to be your perfect mattress match, then the hybrid mattress might be for you! This mattress has a combination of both spring and foam. However, the features will still be different compared to memory foam or innerspring.

The hybrid mattress is typically made up of innerspring for the internal support area with memory foam on the upper area for comfort.  Many manufacturers produce this mixed version in order to cut the costs of the more expensive foam support layer.

GEL or GEL-INFUSED FOAM

Gel mattresses focus on the comfort in the hip and joint area, and it also has great temperature regulation!

These beds limit motion transfer and provide support, which can be beneficial for couples because you would not have to worry about bothering your partner when tossing and turning.

However, these can be on the more expensive side, and there are many variations of this type.

LATEX

Latex mattresses can be tricky depending heavily on your preference and body reaction towards the material! Some are allergic to latex, and this mattress type would not work for them.

However, this material allows the mattress to offer soft comfort along with strong pressure relief. Say goodbye to sinking into your mattress! Latex has a strong form and gives the essential support needed.

Meraviglioso! Now that I have listed the types of mattresses, I hope you got a better idea of which one out of these could be your perfect match. Buying a mattress is a big investment, it is crucial to ask questions, do your research, and check out our blogs for more information.

Is a Mattress-in-a-Box Right for You?

There’s a little bit of magic in every box…could your perfect mattress possibly come in one?

Ciao! If you are wondering if a mattress-in-a-box is right for you, well as always, you came to the right place, mio amico.

The first thing you should ask yourself is, do you go to stores in person often when searching for mattresses? During times like this when COVID-19 is still present, many shoppers have moved to completely online shopping, but that is not a bad thing. In fact, online shopping can bring you unlimited options and varieties of the items you are in search of. This goes for the mattress-in-a-box market as well. Because it is online, manufacturers can be able to provide you with a variety of choices and different features that could potentially suit your exact preferences.

You must be thinking: what are the benefits of shopping for your mattress online!

Well, shopping online for your mattress-in-a-box can allow you to see more options and varieties compared to what is shown and available in stores. This is a great plus if you are living in a small city because you might find it difficult to find exactly what you are looking for when there are fewer options to choose from. Many manufacturers who sell a mattress-in-a-box pay great attention to detail and the needs and wants of their consumers when producing a mattress. For example, here at GiNO, our foams are expanded using water-based technology which creates an open-cell structure that makes it more breathable and cooler! As for firmness, the mattress-in-a-box usually falls in the medium firmness range, which allows for greater flexibility and appeals to the greatest number of consumers.

However, these are not the only features! At GiNO, we focus on spine support, breathability, weight, and pressure for good posture, cleaning benefits, and mattress protection.

There are a few common misconceptions about a mattress-in-a-box which include issues with the temperature, off-gassing, and roll packing. Many think that the memory foam tends to be hot, however, with GiNO, sleeping hotter will not be a problem for you. As mentioned before our cooling feature will assure you the right temperature balance your body needs to have a restful sleep.

Off-gassing occurs when the memory foam has a chemical or petroleum smell. Odor!! No thank you, am I right? That is why GiNO focuses on making their mattresses safe and clean without VOCs and using only certified materials without toxic chemical off-gassing.

As for roll packing, many think it causes permanent damage to the mattress. However, mattresses in a box are designed to be highly resilient. Once the plastic wrapping is removed, the layers will expand until the bed reaches its fully intended shape. The foams, coils, and other components should fully recover in one to two days without any sort of damage.

Along with the features, believe it or not, you are actually saving more compared to if you purchased a traditional model! In fact, a lot of companies offer discounts and deals continuously throughout the year. That’s right…this magical mattress-in-a-box can help you save from what you could have been spending at the furniture store.

Fun fact: compressing the mattress into a small box actually helps reduce shipping costs and the manufacturer passes these savings on to you!

Here at GiNO, you have the ability to possibly try our mattresses out in person and still receive it in a box! We have 20 locations across the United States. This is a great way to see if the mattress would be your perfect match before making your final decision. However, if you are unable to reach our locations, not to worry! We have a live chat on our website, so you can ask and confirm any questions you might have, we also provide detailed descriptions with everything from the materials, features, to the firmness. Along with our helpful and efficient website, we also have an active social media appearance, we put up reviews and demonstrations of the unboxing on our Instagram. As for returns, we have some good news for you! If you return your mattress within our 100-day sleep trial, you can return your mattress at no cost.

Bene! I hope this blog gave you enough clarity on what a mattress-in-a-box is, and how it can be a great potential choice for you. A good start is to read reviews and information that focuses on the cost, delivery, and returns before purchasing. Here at GiNO, we are always ready to answer any questions you might have that will help you get the most magical and comfortable experience with your mattress purchase.

As always Buona notte e sogni d’oro from yours truly 😴

Out with the old in with the new: How to dispose of your mattress

Ciao! Breaking up with your mattress is not the best feeling, however, the feeling of getting a brand new one and moving on to better things is surely something special. If you are unsure whether or not it is time to get rid of your mattress, check out our previous blog on all the red flags to know when it is the right time to say arrivederci! However, if you are wondering exactly how to approach the next step of the process, you came to the right place.

Disposing of a mattress can be tedious, so as I always say, grab a tall glass of wine and let me guide you through the different options to dispose of a mattress stress-free!

Bene, let’s continue…

Believe it or not, but the way you decide to dispose of a mattress can have a great impact on the environment. For example, leaving your mattress in front of your house or throwing it in the dumpster, can fill up our landfills with chemicals. Mattresses are considered to be hazardous waste, and that is something we want to be extra careful about.

Not to worry because the best way to protect the environment during this process is to recycle!

The first thing you will want to do is search where you can recycle your mattress around your area. There are many mattress recycling services that could assist you in this, that way there is less stress on you.

Now, if you are wondering how much these services would cost, it might vary depending on the service and size of a mattress, it is important to check estimates or call to confirm a set price. However, many of these services are done at a reasonable price, which is worth it when you think about all the hassles you will get to avoid! And the best part about this is the free pickups, which are provided by most services.

To make it easier on you, I will add a couple of links to help you find the right disposal service around your area. Click away!

The next option is to donate!

If your mattress is not working too well for you, but it is still in decent shape, wouldn’t it be so nice to give it away to those in need. After all, everyone deserves a restful sleep, and you could be making that possible!

And not to worry, just like the disposable services, some donation organizations will provide free pickup as well! Amazing right?

Some organizations to look into would be:

Goodwill: Goodwill is based in the US and Canada with 162 locations. They allow mattress donations, as long as it is in good condition and fits all their guidelines.

Salvation Army: This organization is known for its honorable donations. It is important to check their guidelines before donating. However, in some locations, the organization does provide free pickups. Giving a call to the nearest location would give you a more clear answer on whether or not that service would be available.

Habitat for Humanity: This is a non-profit organization that helps the community improve, by providing various services such as donations, and volunteering. Some locations take mattress donations with a free pick up, however, just like the organizations mentioned above, it is important to double-check with the location near you.

The last option would be to give your mattress away by selling it or putting it for free grabs.

There is nothing wrong with selling your mattress on your own, or just giving it away to one of your friends or family who might also want to switch their own mattress.

If you are looking to resell your mattress, here is a list of websites that can make your life easier, by selling online. All you have to do is add a description and picture, grande am I right!

  • OfferUp
  • Facebook Marketplace
  • NextDoor
  • Craigslist

Fun Fact #1: If you are a college student or know someone who is in college right now, they usually have a Facebook page for each graduate class and that would be a perfect target market for you to sell your mattress as well.

Tutto Fatto! We have completed the guide on how to dispose of your mattress. Out with the old and in with the new! Stay tuned for more blogs on mattress shopping, and handling.

8 Red Flags that you should break up with your current mattress

Ciao! This blog is an evaluation of how your current mattress is doing, and if it is time to replace it with a new one. It is important to regularly check on your mattress, but sometimes it is easy to forget this. Not to worry because I will be listing the major signs that are red flags in the world of mattresses and by the end of this you will know if it’s time to move on!

Red flag #1: Your mattress has deep indentations and lumps instead of being firm and flat. The reason this is a sign to replace your mattress is that the lumps will affect how much comfort and support you will be provided with. The uneven parts of the mattress due to the indentations will cause discomfort and could affect the amount of rest you truly allow your body to get.

Red flag #2: Your mattress is sagging. If your mattress does not look even and you can see it sagging even if it is just in some places, it is time to replace it! If you continue to use the mattress, it could prevent your body from getting the support it needs. You could even feel yourself sinking into the mattress and this can affect your sleep, which can leave you feeling exhausted in the morning and can have your body aching. In addition, when the mattress is sagging, you may experience some back pain and your spine will not be aligned… we clearly would not want that!

Red flag 3: Your allergies begin to act up. Mattresses that are kept long over time can start to develop allergens such as dust mites, mold, and mildew. These allergens can start to affect you and it can start up your allergies which can start from the moment you lay in bed to the moment you wake up. So, if you catch yourself specifically sniffling every time you are in bed, it may be that it is time to move on and replace your mattress.

However, memory foam is a great asset to the next mattress you look for because memory foam can prevent and resist the build-ups of these certain allergens mentioned above. Here at GiNO, we provide memory foam to assure you have the most powerful mattress as your next.

Red flag #4: The obvious bed bugs. Stay away from a mattress that shows any signs of these creepy crawlers. One tip to protect yourself from this red flag and even stains and odors is to invest in a mattress protector ASAP!

Here at GINO, we provide our customers with mattress protectors that include long-lasting waterproof and breathable protection, that is suitable for any mattress, and perfect for all seasons.

Red flag #5: There is someone else now. If you recently have been sharing a mattress with someone else, and it is not just you anymore, if there is not much room for the two of you then it might be time to consider replacing your mattress with a bigger size. Having the new mattress include motion separation would be a plus for sharing a bed. With the motion separation, you can easily move around on your side of the mattress, and it would not affect the other side where your partner would be sleeping. You want to make sure you and your partner have a restful and pleasurable sleep each night, so in this case, start by replacing your old mattress!

Red flag #6: You start to feel pain or aches. Getting your sleep should be a stress reliever and a chance for your body to rest so that you can have enough energy for the next day. If you have been waking up feeling aches around your body, it might mean that your mattress does not provide enough support which then can create painful pressure points. It is not normal to constantly wake up with unexpected back pains so make sure to immediately replace it if you have been experiencing this. Say Arrivederci to pains!

Red flag #7: Age matters if we are talking mattresses! Even though it is easy to get attached to your mattress, unfortunately, they should not be lasting forever. Most mattresses should be replaced every 7-10 years. To read more about how often you should replace your mattress, click on the link below for a separate more in-depth blog on this topic!

Red flag #8: It is not you, it’s me. Maybe none of these red flags is something you need to worry about. However, if you still feel like there is something making you consider changing mattresses anyway, then it might just be you, not the mattress! But do not worry, that is totally normal because not every mattress will be suitable for you for a long time, and you might just need something a little different now. If you need that little push to let go, well I am here to let you know that it is okay! To make sure your next pick is the best, check out our shopping guide blog where I help you pick out the perfect mattress match, and continue to read the upcoming blogs on all things mattresses.

Bene, if any of these red flags stand out to you, make sure to give your mattress and a check, and say “Grazie, il prossimo” (Thank you, next) because bigger and better things are coming your way and by that, I mean, a new mattress that will allow you to have the calm restful sleep you desire. Stay tuned for more blogs, but for now, buona notte e sogni d’oro as always from yours truly GiNO.

Questions to ask when buying a mattress

Ciao! I am sure you all have many questions regarding the process of buying your perfect mattress, well lucky for you, I am here to fill in those missing puzzle pieces and help you get one step closer to having the best sleep of your life! All you have to do is grab a nice tall glass of wine and read away. Okay, do you have your wine or whatever beverage you desire in your hand? Bene, I will start the Q&A!

I will now list the six questions that you should ask when buying a mattress:

  1. What size mattress should I buy?
  2. When should you replace your mattress/what are the signs that you should replace your mattress?
  3. How to dispose of your old mattress?
  4. When is the best time to buy a mattress?
  5. Will the new mattress give me comfort and support?
  6. Will this new mattress address my allergies?

Let’s start off with question #1: What size mattress should I buy?

If you have not already, check out our blog about the perfect shopping guide for picking your mattress! In there, it talks about the different heights, as well as a ton of other aspects to consider when looking at mattresses. However, I know you are already here reading thus far, so let me make your life easier and tell you some information about sizing!

The key secret to choosing the right size for you is to take your height and width into consideration because you want to make sure you can fit comfortably. Another thing is to take into consideration how many people will be sharing this mattress, for example, if you will be sharing with your partner you will want to make sure the mattress size is spacious enough for two people.

Once you compare all your measurements with the measurements of the different size selections, you will be able to see which one will give you exactly what you are looking for! GiNO has many size selections to choose from starting at Twin all the way down to a California King. The options are endless here!

Question #2: When should you replace your mattress/what are the signs that you should replace your mattress?

Are you wondering if it is truly time for you to change that mattress? Might be hard to let go, but trust me, if any of the signs I am about to mention are valid to your mattress, LET IT GOOO!

  • If your mattress has deep indentations instead of being firm and flat, this will affect how much support you will be provided with. And you deserve the most support and firmness, so do not settle for your old mattress it is time to replace it!
  • An obvious one, are stains that are not removable. We all have those days where eating in the comfort of your bed sounds piacevole (pleasant) , however a couple of spills are inevitable. Or even having your kids on the bed, or your pets can make a bit of a mess at times. Instead of keeping the stains there to possibly smell, it is time to replace!
  • Bed bugs. I know, I am getting the chills even thinking about this one. But it is very important to make sure you examine your mattress time to time, to make sure you are staying clear of any of the creepy bedtime crawlers. If there are any in sight, you know what I am going to say at this point. REPLACE IT!
  • If you are realizing that you could possibly be allergic to your mattress and the materials that it is made out of, do not continue to ruin the most peaceful hours of your day sleeping on it! Say it with me now, REPLACE IT!
  • The timeline on how often you should replace your mattress, if your mattress does not have any of these signs but you still want to know how often a mattress should be replaced, I have the answer for you! You should try to replace it every seven years, as the older it gets, it may not be able to provide the full comfort you desire.

Question #3: How to dispose your old mattress?

Okay, bene, so you got your new mattress, but you have no idea what to do with your old one right? There is a proper way to dispose of your mattress and the secret is coming out right now.

The two ways to dispose of your mattress, which will not harm the environment or cause you additional stress during the process are donating or recycling! Donating your mattress that could still be of good use to organizations such as Goodwill can be beneficial. There are also many services where you can have your mattress picked up to be recycled, however, a fee might be included, the fees could range depending on the service and mattress it is highly recommended to call and confirm the prices. However, the majority of the time, the fees are reasonable.

Question #4: When is the best time to buy a mattress?

SALE SALE SALE!!! Do not miss a good sale for mattresses when you see one!

The best sales are usually presented to customers on holidays all year round from Black Friday through Labor Day. Also be sure to check online deals, such as Cyber Monday.

Question #5: Will this new mattress give me comfort and support?

Of course, the number one must-have in your new mattress is the feeling of comfort. Things to consider when it comes to deciding if the mattress you are interested in will be the most comfortable and supportive for you are the materials the mattress is made out of, what kinds of support does the mattress enhances, and the qualities that allow relaxation when resting on the mattress.

Here at GINO, comfort, and support are important to us, and we only want the best for our customers. Our mattress provides optimal spinal support to make sure your back is well-rested and relaxed, our mattress also allows airflow and flexibility, this is important because you want to be able to comfortably move around in your sleep and have that breathability room.

Question #6:  Will this new mattress address my allergies?

Lastly, you should always make sure you consider what the mattress is made out of and if you see that certain materials might activate your allergies, it is highly encouraged to stay away from it. However, some mattresses can also be made to avoid any allergy start-ups by having different features of prevention.

Here at GiNO, our mattresses have a removable cover that allows you to wash and clean them when needed and is made out of hypoallergenic materials! All GINO products have received the highest Oeko-Tex rating of Standard 100. Oeko-Tex is a worldwide recognized certification that guarantees the total absence of toxic and harmful substances. We are proud to have a production process that does not rely on toxic chemicals, and we are able to provide you with a mattress that has passed the Oeko-Standard 100 requirements on every layer of the mattress.

Do not worry, I know you have many more questions building up in your head, and we are totally not done yet, so maybe grab some cheese and grapes with your wine before we continue!

Before you purchase a mattress, it is important to ask the big three questions which are:

  1. What is the return policy?
  2. What is the warranty policy?
  3. What is the shipping & return guidelines?

Usually, any website that you are purchasing from would provide this information, so you want to make sure that you know all the rules and regulations before making any purchase decisions.

Let’s break down why these three are important to consider, shall we?

  • The return policy is something that you would obviously wish you will not need to worry about, but just in case you should definitely be aware. Say the mattress is not working out for you, if there are no return options you could be stuck with something you do not want. Or if you want to avoid return fees, you want to make sure you know the exact deadlines for when it turns from free returns to returning at a cost!
  • Warranty is essential, especially when you are purchasing something like a mattress where you will be using it everyday for as long as you wish to keep it.
  • The shipping and returns guidelines are crucial to know, because you want to make sure you are aware of the costs for shipping and the expected timeline for delivery.

Here at GiNO, we strive to have the best policies when it comes to all three of these aspects. We can assure you that you will love our products, however, we got you covered if there are any issues or concerns!

  • We want the process to be stress free for you, GiNO has a 100-day sleep trial and within those days you can return your mattress for free with a full refund. I am sure you are smiling with relief; you see what I mean? Stress free!
  • But the great news does not stop there, we know you will love our mattress so we have a 20 year warranty to make sure you are always being taken care of ❤️
  • As for shipping, there is free delivery with UPS anywhere in the contiguous U.S., products also typically ship within two-six business days. However, keep in mind UPD typically does not deliver on Saturday’s or Sunday’s!

Buonanotte e sogni d’oro

So as you take your last sip of wine, I would like to wrap up this Q&A, I hope this helped you, and it is never a bad idea to make sure you have all your questions answered. If you would like more assistance, we got you! GiNO has a live chat on their website, so ask away and remember to dream on. Wish you the best on your mattress journey! As always Buonanotte e sogni d’oro 💤

How to choose your perfect mattress

Just like many pleasures in life, our sleep is one of them! Those days where you just want to binge watch your favorite show with a glass of wine and a midnight snack in bed are moments we would want to last just a little longer. However, one of the reasons why being in bed is so comforting and an escape from reality, comes from the mattress you sleep on. Welcome to our shopping guide, I will help you find your perfect mattress, so you can feel the most satisfied with your purchase and have the best “namaste in bed” days.

There are five different aspects to consider when choosing a mattress:

  1. How to test comfort
  2. How to test for support
  3. Motion Separation
  4. Temperature
  5. Mattress Height

I will walk you through each of these categories, so you can feel the most confident during your shopping experience!

How to Test Comfort and Support

Believe it or not but your preferred sleeping position is a great way to decide the comfort level of a mattress you are interested in. Comfort is also always a matter of personal preference so make sure to take that into consideration as I guide you through the different positions!

If you like to sleep on your side, you will want support for your body weight. To make sure your mattress can support you, check if it is an innerspring or soft foam mattress. These types will leave you feeling as though you are sleeping on clouds without worrying about the pressure.

If you sleep on your stomach, you will want a mattress that feels firm but also light on your body. Mattresses that contain firm foam, or specifically dense innerspring will allow you to feel the comfort you need.

If you like to sleep on your back, call yourself lucky because any type of mattress will be comfortable for you! By reading the descriptions of the two above, somewhere in between will be just the perfect match for you! To get the best out of your shopping experience, seeing it for yourself could beneficial. Testing out each mattress will easily give you a clear answer.

As for support, the most important rule to go by is to check whether your spine is aligned when laying down on a mattress as if it is not, you are likely to experience back pain. This rule is regardless of what material is in your mattress.

Shopping Fun Fact #1
If you have back pain, the best mattresses are the ones with memory foam. Foam mattress in general has a much better permanence than springs. GiNO mattresses include this so you can sleep stress free!

Motion & Separation

If you are sharing a bed with your significant other, you want every night to be enjoyable with them, but sharing a bed is not always easy! You or your partner could tend to move around often in your sleep, and this could be disturbing. However, motion separation prevents this issue from occurring.

Memory foam mattresses with motion separation are made to only move where the foam is touched. So, when you move on your side, your partner will not be able to feel it on theirs. Doesn’t this sound amazing! Alright, I know you are dying to tell your partner this, so go tell them the great news, but make sure to come back and continue reading!

Temperature

Many mattress companies including GiNO have been introducing new cooling technologies for mattresses. It is a luxury to be able to sleep with the perfected cooling temperature. Here is how it works!

Cooling technology helps absorb heat and increase airflow. It will draw the hot air away from your body so that you can have a cool and calm sleep. All of the foams have a water-based technology in GiNO mattresses, this creates an open-cell structure which makes the foam breathable and cooler.

Shopping Fun Fact #2
Mamma Mia! You are hot! Now even though you are a total catch, I meant your body temperature is hot, it is about 98.6 F. Our body is not capable of regulating our own temperature when we are in the deep phases of our sleep, but cooling technology within your mattress will allow you to balance the temperatures between you and your mattress!

Mattress height

Are you wondering whether you should invest in a thicker and tall mattress, or a shorter mattress? There are a lot of factors to consider, and I will help you narrow down the choices based on your preferences!

Let us start off with the taller and thicker mattresses:

  • The style of your bed and headboard can also help you decide if a thicker mattress is right for you. If you are styling your bed with a headboard, you will want your mattress to have the strongest support to be sustainable for the headboard placement.

Smaller mattresses:

  • Smaller mattresses might be right for you depending on the weight, some mattresses could be easier to carry if smaller, however always make sure to double check because it is possible for a smaller mattress to be heavier than a thicker one.
  • If you want to be able to get in and out of bed easily depending on your height, a short mattress would be the most convenient for you.

Buonanotte e sogni d’oro

And that is officially the end of our shopping guide! Choosing a mattress can be exciting and tedious, but if you follow this guide and choose based on your true preferences, you will be guaranteed the perfect mattress. Shop away and check out our GiNO product line!

Fun Fact #3
